Blessings from Broccoli Cheese Soup

Today I went to a restaurant and I wasn’t sure what I wanted to get, but I went in with my head held high and decided to let chance take its course.

Well when I went in the waitress asked me if I wanted the broccoli cheese soup, and she continued to boast about the quality and the flavor, so I did.

It was the best broccoli cheese soup I had ever had and I am happy I had it because now I feel upbeat and happy and there isn’t a cloud in the sky in my mind. I also found out that I had a calcium difficiency and that was linked to a medical problem I had been having. What a blessing! Broccoli and the cream in the soup are both amazing sources of calcium.

You are probably reading this wondering, “What does this have to do with Paganism?” Well, think about it. No matter what we are doing in life we are always going to be taken care of. We don’t have to know every answer to every little thing in our lives, because the God and the Goddess will always be there for us. They provide for us and always allow us an amazing and blessed path. Whether it is a food choice that will ultimately be the key to solving an on-going medical issue, or if it is a problem with love, or a question of faith. The God and Goddess will work to make sure you are happy and strong.

Never lose sight of the signs that are around us everyday, you may be surprised. If we live a life full of love and purity of heart by helping others and loving them and ourselves, we will be rewarded with blessing far beyond our comprehension.

And since this is a food, I have included a recipe for Broccoli Cheese Soup!

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Prep Time 10 Minutes
Cook Time 30 Minutes
Servings 10 Difficulty Easy

  • 1 whole Onion, Diced
  • 1 stick 1/2 Cup Butter
  • ⅓ cups Flour
  • 4 cups Whole Milk
  • 2 cups Half-and-half
  • 4 heads Broccoli Cut Into Florets
  • 1 pinch Nutmeg
  • 3 cups Grated Cheese (mild Cheddar, Sharp Cheddar, Jack, Etc.)
  • Small Dash Of Salt (more If Needed)
  • Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • Chicken Broth If Needed For Thinning

Preparation Instructions

Melt butter in a pot over medium heat, then add the onions. Cook the onions for 3 to 4 minutes, then sprinkle the flour over the top. Stir to combine and cook for 1 minute or so, then pour in milk and half-and-half. Add nutmeg, then add broccoli, a small dash of salt, and plenty of black pepper.

Cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 20 to 30 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender. Stir in cheese and allow to melt.

Taste seasonings and adjust if needed. Then either serve as is, or mash it with a potato masher to break up the broccoli a bit, or transfer to a blender in two batches and puree completely. (If you puree it in a blender, return it to the heat and allow to heat up. Splash in chicken broth if needed for thinning.)
